Albertas regualtions on day time fishing

Since the beginning of august the rivers, lakes and national parks in the southern western part of Alberta have are putting regulations for day time fishing. Local officials say that it is from 12am to 2pm. The regulations started when they lake's temperature started to rise. During this time it went up to 20 degrees. This has been happening for 3 days now since it's been announced. To top it all off the overflows that are making it even more difficult to fish. This is when experts say that they have to put a regulation on the rivers.“Trout, char, whitefish and salmon — they have a better need or lower threshold for oxygen than a lot of other fish and that’s partly due to the temperature,” said Henry Komadowski, an environmental sciences instructor at Lethbridge College. “The warmer it gets, the less water can hold in terms of oxygen.” With this new found information lakes are closed only during those times. On the other hand because of where Bassano is located this rule does not apply because the dam cuts off the water. This is mostly in effect for Bow river. The reason why this is an important matter is because the fish may not be able to survive when the temperature and water levels increase that high. The dam wont have this issue because it blocks off most of the in bow river. In Alberta fashion these regulations were respected and followed through. Thankfully these regulations have been lifted on September 1 of 2022 . As the winter months come the regulations won't be a problem due to the lakes being frozen. So will the dam be. For more information read more on how the regulation impacted southern alberta and what experts have to say on the matter.
